To improve accessibility to the Deaf, Deaf-Blind and Hard of Hearing communities by educating hospitals, law enforcement agencies, employers and other businesses within New Mexico of their responsiblities to these citizens under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), thereby enriching our state's cultural diversity.

Pima Community College
(PCC) opens its doors to more than 85,000 credit and noncredit students each year. Since the fall of 1970 when classes were held in an airport hangar, PCC has grown to include six campuses and more than 70 off-campus sites located throughout Tucson, Green Valley, Marana, Nogales and Sells, Arizona. Mounting community interest has led to Learning Centers located on Tucson's northeast and southeast sides and the opening of the Northwest Campus in fall, 2003. The Phoenix Day School for the Deaf, fully accredited by the North Central Association, educates students who are deaf or hard-of-hearing. PDSD serves children who live within the metropolitan Phoenix area to the extent that daily transportation is feasible. The Phoenix Campus provides a full array of educational and support services to day students in Elementary, Junior High School and High School. These services include counseling, communication instruction (speech, auditory training, speech reading, augmentative communication, public speaking, reading intervention, pragmatics, and communicative competence), audiology, occupational and physical therapy, vocational training, career counseling and transition planning. Southwest Center of ASL Studies
The mission for the Southwest Center of ASL Studies is a collaboration of Deaf, hearing, teachers for the Deaf and interpreter educators who promote the use of American Sign Language and an understanding of Deaf Culture throughout the community by offering classes, workshops, trainings, and lectures and support the continuing professional development of ASL interpreters and other professionals serving the Deaf community.
